Message Or the best time because every college kid is broke—I’m simply ahead of the curve (until completion of the Z when I’m back to ground level like everyone else). Not really my philosophy, but an idea to consider. Plus I already have $10k+ into it so to give up now would just be a loss, what’s the point?

I will be in college 6 years with my planned major (welding engineering w/ a business minor), then go right into working. OSU's job placement for WE has been 100% over the last 7 years with an avg starting salary of $75k and $10-20k signing bonus. OSU is one of three welding engineering colleges in the world, grads are picked up by companies around the world when they finish and are often recruited 2 years into the major. Very high demand position.

Enough about that, back to the Z. I can't really have the Z sit in my parents garage for the next 6 years without my Dad getting pissed (it’s in our "toy" garage, but it gets in the way of our sailboat and 4wheelers). Plus he is just as excited about the project as I am. We came to the agreement that I will pay for every part on the car, and he will cover insurance and drive it when he pleases while I’m in school.

The Z is my hobby, not my DD or anything, so I can take my time to build it and enjoy it. But I want to build it. After I get out of school I'll have to worry about a home, starting a family, and paying "important" bills. That won't leave much remaining for a car project. So then figure on 10 years after that until I am completely stable and have sufficient bank to start the Z build - or any build for that matter - and it’s been 16 years. At that point the Z will be 30 years old.

So when would be a good time them? Keep in mind CarbonZTT, he was 18 when he started his $100k build. I'm sure if he could he would do some things different, but I doubt he has any regrets.

Jared
